Notes

If you are a pet owner you will know how expensive Vets Bills are. The problem is partly due to the fact that veterinary trade can only prescribe prescription based medicines which are more expensive.

It may be worthwhile getting Pet insurance to help cover the bills. Animals can be injured through fights or accidents, become ill, or just like us all get old and require 'maintenance'.

Pet Plan was one of the first companies to introduce Pet Insurance

Quote from their advert

Petplan - leading UK animal insurance specialists - have revolutionised the pet insurance industry with a major initiative that puts its policies on par with private health insurance.

Since Petplan introduced the concept of pet insurance in 1976, over 1.5 million owners have opted for pet insurance schemes. Traditionally, these have worked on the basis of a drawing down on cover for each illness or injury to the maximum benefit prevailing at the time when the illness or accident first occurred.

For chronic illness requiring treatment over many years this has previously meant that cover was limited to the maximum benefit in force at the onset of the illness. This meant that pets could easily run out of cover and the specific illness is excluded with the pet still having a number of years to live.

Since April 1 1997 - as long as the policy is renewed each year - all cats, dogs & rabbits registered on Petplan's insurance schemes have been offered COVER FOR LIFE. Under the new policy there is a generous maximum benefit for ALL veterinary fees during the policy year and this maximum benefit is reinstated EACH YEAR - no matter how much is used in the previous twelve months.

For Petplan's premium plans (Supercat and Dog Lovers Supreme), the benefit is unlimited - there being no cap on the total amount that can be claimed in any year. Maximum benefit levels for Petplan's standard and budget plans have also been increased substantially. At the same time, Petplan has simplified its excesses, which now become a fixed amount for each illness or injury each year.
