The world has become a dangerous and demanding place. Many are troubled by the violence, intolerance, greed and self-gratification that are all around. There appears to be no light at the end of the tunnel, just a relentless charge into the dark. Many have lost hope and lead lives of despair. 2000 years ago the violent rulers of the time were ordering the killing of the first-born. Today extremist from all walks of life are no different, ordering and misleading others into the slaughter of the innocent.
Throughout time many individuals such as Jesus Christ, Mohammad, and Buddha have appeared and have changed the world forever. These people have cast huge stones in the oceans and the ripples are still falling on the shores today. The list is endless.
Most of us are unable to influence the world in the same way as these great individuals. At times, the most we can do is survive and aspire toward a better way. Our best chance is to influence those around us and hope that the small pebbles we throw create a few ripples for others to see.
There are many paths to enlightenment. My own path took many years, followed many wrong turns before I stumbled unexpectedly into the light. I now have a sense of purpose and a path to follow. For those of you who still haven't found what you are looking for I hope you find it soon. You may find the answer within your family, in helping others or in serving God.
For some people the first step is to simply stop and to think about the bigger picture. This is what Buddha did and it changed his way of life, and his thinking forever. For others who seek out God perhaps the answers will be found in the teachings of Mohammad or Jesus Christ. Whatever the answer, it is often helpful to have an activity or a place that will help you reflect on your thoughts. I have provided a few links that may help. Some of you may just need a place to recharge your batteries so that you can cope with a stressful life. I hope you find this of help.
